* Oh man. This is nearly impossible to understand, much less translate. There seems to be some reference to the expression 'de but en blanc' which translates more or less to 'point-blank' in English, except of course he doesn't say 'blanc,' he says 'bas,' (low, bottom). So there is some sort of vague sexual reference (not surprising given the author and the fact that he is writing about Lolita), but it isn't clear what exactly that is. . . which is perhaps the point.
** The calends were the first of the month according to the Roman calender. The Greeks had no such thing. . . thus the expression 'until the Greek calends' means to postpone something indefinately.
